The Amenity Center at SpringHouse Village was designed to provide recreational activities and a communal space for residents of the neighborhood to gather. Custom Elevated Play Fort with Rope Bridges, Climbing Wall, & Swings
Our firm provided design-build services to improve the landscape at this newly remodeled residence in the Salt Lake Valley. The new site and landscape design integrated the modern style of the remodel into the landscape to create a unified feel throughout the property. Some the the program elements included are:
Our firm worked closely with the City of North Salt Lake on a design-build project to redevelop a large retention basin into a unique neighborhood playground/park. A main objective of the park is to provide opportunities for nature play. We developed a plan that features boulder climbing areas, a large “fell tree”, log steps, and embankment slide that is integrated with mature trees and native plantings.
As a retention basin, the pre-existing site conditions had spring water piped underground. G Brown took advantage of this design opportunity to create a meandering stream for park users to enjoy.
Church Park is a neighborhood favorite of North Shore Village. The combination of recreational and gardening activities creates a cohesive park that brings the community together. The open grass field is provides open space for events, while the garden plots creates a passive space for members of the community to grow fresh veggies. Orchard Park is suited for a variety of uses and experiences. The park has a formal plaza for neighborhood events, central playground for kids, and a shady orchard perfect for just hanging out. There are benches and seat walls to provide seating but room to accommodate amenities of events. Boulder Park is a small yet elegant park located at the north end of East Lake Village. The park’s organic design creates an interesting environment and correlates well with the sculpture-like play structure. Plant variety is abundant and colorful and ornamental grasses produce a prairie like feel. Destination Playground and Splashpad
A key component of the master plan is a large destination playground and splashpad with an emphasis on inclusive or adaptive play. The playground is designed to address the needs of users across the developmental continuum by providing variety and graduated levels of challenge with a focus on collaborative, sensory, and unstructured play.
G Brown Design was able to create 3D models of the destination playground and splashpad using SketchUp and Lumion. The use of 3D modeling during the design process enabled G Brown Design to create an exciting and inclusive playground environment for all. Construction is underway and should be completed by May 2021.
G Brown Design designed a new all-inclusive playground to replace the aging play equipment at Provo’s North Park. Developing a design that retains the areas many large existing trees added to the challenge of the project, but also created exciting play opportunities. Salt Lake City Fire Station No. 3 is the second Net Zero Fire Station in the U.S. behind Fire Station No. 14, and is anticipating to meet LEED Gold certification. G Brown Design was able to take the same architectural goals of efficiency, resilience, and sustainability and incorporate the same principles into the surrounding landscape. Using resilient and sustainable plants and creating usable and interesting spaces outdoors for fire fighters to work or relax.
