G Brown Design worked closely with the client to take this contemporary landscape design from concept through construction. The client’s wish list included developing a series of unique outdoor living and entertaining spaces, minimal maintenance and water use, and staying within budget. The contemporary/modern style is accomplished through the careful selection of materials and finishes as well as type and placement of shrubs and trees. Some of the program elements included in the design are:
Retaining Wall in Front Yard
Recessed Fire Pit Area
Seat Wall/Bench around Fire Pit
A series of 3D renderings were created using SketchUp and Lumion to show the overall design intent, and help both the homeowner and contractor visualize key parts of the landscape. In addition to design work, G Brown Design assisted the homeowner in seeking bids from qualified contractors, and provided construction management services to ensure the client’s vision became reality.
G Brown Design has recently updated the overall Master Plan for Magna Regional park. Program elements for the 63 acre master plan include:
Multi-use trail and connections to future canal trail
Multi-purpose sports fields
Large Reservable Pavilion
Unprogrammed Open Space
Native Seed/Natural Areas
784 Parking Stalls
Destination Playground and Splashpad
A key component of the master plan is a large destination playground and splashpad with an emphasis on inclusive or adaptive play. The playground is designed to address the needs of users across the developmental continuum by providing variety and graduated levels of challenge with a focus on collaborative, sensory, and unstructured play.
G Brown Design was able to create 3D models of the destination playground and splashpad using SketchUp and Lumion. The use of 3D modeling during the design process enabled G Brown Design to create an exciting and inclusive playground environment for all. Construction is underway and should be completed by May 2021.
G Brown Design designed a new all-inclusive playground to replace the aging play equipment at Provo’s North Park. Developing a design that retains the areas many large existing trees added to the challenge of the project, but also created exciting play opportunities. They key objective of the project was to develop a playground designed to address the needs of users across the developmental continuum by providing variety and graduated levels of challenge with a focus on collaborative, sensory, and unstructured play. G Brown Design worked with the City’s Design Committee to develop a new play environment that will provide equitable play opportunities foe individuals of all abilities. The playground includes:
Musical Sensory Area
Custom Interactive Water Feature
Custom Concrete Embankment Slide
Electronic Pulse Play
Sand Play Areas
Custom Tree Net Structure
Zip Lines with Molded High Back Seat
Variety of Swing Types
Whimsical Hobbit Doors
G Brown Design used a combination of 3D modeling and Lumion to create perspective images and videos to convey design ideas to the client. The use of Lumion helped the client see the newly designed park in a whole new perspective and brought the entirety of the playground to life.
