G Brown Design collaborated with AJC Architects to develop a site and landscape design. Extra attention was given to the layout of the plantings to avoid blocking views from the surveillance cameras. Recycled black glass was used as a mulch in strategic areas to emphasize the same color combinations and contrast of the computer “tech” style of the building facade.
G Brown Design updated the existing Master Plan for the remainder of the Lodestone Regional Park and is responsible for Phase II development of the park which includes: public involvement, concept plans, construction documentation, permitting, and construction period services. The park includes three multi-purpose sports fields, 250 new parking stalls, 6.5 miles of new multi-use trails, basketball courts, tennis and pickle ball courts. The park also has a restroom, large and small pavilions, and park lighting. The irrigation system meets Phase II irrigation needs, but has been planned to accommodate future phases of development. G Brown Design provided preliminary planning and design services to Rio Tinto/Kennecott Land for a park located in Village II of the Daybreak Community. G Brown Design Developed preliminary design options and illustrative plans that were finalized into the Brookside Park Master Plan. The master plan was then used to develop detailed drawings and construction documents for bidding and construction. G Brown Design’s services also included Bidding and Construction Period Services.
G Brown Design has worked with SEGO Homes, a multifamily residential development within the Daybreak Community in South Jordan City. As part of the project, G Brown Design developed the detailed design for the overall plantings, fences, gates, pergolas, trellises, site walls, and other site features.
East Lake Park is a popular park located in East Lake Village of Daybreak Utah along the east shore of Oquirrh Lake. The park is comprised of a unique combination of play structures which create various play opportunities and challenges. G Brown Design used topography to create a multi-level playground and connected elements with bridges and slides. There is also a sand beach which extends into Oquirrh Lake. GBD was responsible for park programming, conceptual design, construction documentation, and construction period services. Some of the program elements incorporated into the design include flagstone paving, site furnishings, various perennials and plantings, play structures, open grass field, sand beach, site boulders, and a basketball court.
The Anderson residence sits on the east bench of Salt Lake City overlooking the valley. The project posed interesting challenges due to the existing conditions found on the site. The property was blighted by a rundown tennis court and weed infested lawn. G Brown Design created a plan that transformed the decaying landscape into an intriguing and functional space for outdoor living. G Brown Design provided Design/ Build services that included a masterplan followed by a detailed site design. construction document package and construction administration services. Key features in the design are perennial flower beds, a garden trellis, stone patios, a grand water feature and a swimming pool.
East Lake Commons Park is an important linear connection between other parks and open spaces at Daybreak Utah. G Brown Design was responsible for park programming, conceptual design, construction documentation and construction period services. GBD worked in a design build team to provide the client an increased level of design and value. Some program elements incorporated into the design include pedestrian walkways, 100 community garden plots, community swimming pool, large open grass field, tennis courts, custom tennis court fence, art elements and sculptures, play components and equipment, perennials and plantings, site furnishings, and flagstone paving.
Promenade Park is a linear park located in East Lake Village at Daybreak Utah. At the east terminus of the park lies the Oquirrh Mountain Latter Day Saint Temple, and at the west is Daybreak’s Oquirrh Lake. G Brown Design incorporated a mix of passive and active recreation into the design. The park is intersected by meandering paths with views towards the temple. A maze using stone dust paths and ornamental grasses is a focal point at the west end of the park. GBD was responsible for park programming, conceptual design, construction documentation and construction period services. Some of the programming elements incorporated into the design include meandering paths, site furnishings, an ornamental grass maze, a custom steel looped fence, a variety of perennials and plantings, flowering trees, a bocce court, playground, and flagstone paving.
G. Brown Design developed a Landscape Master Plan for this existing home. Once the design concept was completed G Brown Design worked with the contractor as part of a Design-Build Team to transform the design into reality. The design incorporated stone stairs and retaining wall, a courtyard, and native and adaptive plantings. Deer resistant plants were selected to minimize possible damage from the grazing animals. G. Brown Design worked closely with the landscape contractor to stake locations of plant material, and strategically prune existing trees in order to preserve the views of the surrounding foothill landscape while maintaining privacy for the residents.
G Brown Design provided preliminary planning and design services to the City of North Salt Lake for a cemetery and park located on the city’s east bench. G Brown Design worked with city staff to develop preliminary design options and illustrative plans to be presented to residents at city organized public open houses. G Brown Design also worked with the city to further develop the project and Opinions of Probable Costs for the city to identify and secure funding and budget approval for Construction Documentation, Bidding, and Construction.
G Brown Design worked with Rio Tinto and Kennecott Land as part of the Daybreak Project to stabilize eroding banks and improve the apearance of the shores of Oquirrh Lake. As an emergency measure unsightly rip rap had been dumped along the banks of the lake. Not only was this aesthetically unpleasing; it did not fully eliminate the problems creating the deterioration. GBD proposed and oversaw the installation of 100,000 wetland plants which not only provided bank stabilization, but also created color, interest and wildlife habitat.
Garden Corner Park is a small neighborhood pocket park within East Lake Village of Daybreak Utah. It combines classic design with modern and unique custom elements. G Brown Design carefully integrated both passive and active recreation opportunities within the park to accommodate the diverse demographics of the surrounding area. GBD was responsible for park programming, conceptual design, construction documentation and construction period services. Some of the program elements incorporated into the design include a custom trellis with lighting, flagstone paving, site furnishings, playground, various perennials and plantings, custom granite post and rail fence, and custom steel loop fence.
G Brown Design worked closely with Salt Lake County, Draper City, EDA Architects, Aging Services and project consultants to develop a site design that meets LEED certification and the needs of the community. Project objectives were to provide a variety of activities, unify the landscapes of the new Senior Center with that of the existing library, and create connections to the adjacent Park and trail system. Native and adaptive plantings were used to conserve water and provide visual interest throughout the seasons. Amenities incorporated in the design include; courtyards, public art, bocce ball, pickleball courts, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, orchard, and deck. As part of the design an existing creek and high water table on the project property was enhanced and utilized to a create a formal water fall feature and pond. A garden area with raised planters, seating areas, and grape covered fence provide opportunities for seniors with a “green thumb”. G Brown Design provided landscape design services from preliminary design through construction documents and construction period services.
G Brown Design worked for Kennecott Land to developed the landscape pattern book for their Garden Park Active Adult Community. As part of this work we put together a document with illustrations showing sample plantings, fence and other site design elements and general themes to assist prospective home buyers in making decisions regarding their purchase their home. G Brown Design also completed detailed planting plans for the individual lots based from design cameos representing the various themes outlined in the pattern book.
G Brown Design provided site planning and landscape architecture services for Intermountain Health Care’s Park City Medical Center. A major emphasis of the project was to successfully blend the project with the adjacent existing hillside while still providing safe and accessible pedestrian, vehicular, and emergency vehicle circulation. G Brown Design was able to accomplish this through careful roadway layout, building placement, and the use of native plantings which included custom seed mixes developed to replicate the adjacent hillsides. The project site includes approximately 310 surface parking spaces, a 110 stall parking structure, and a helipad. Landscape Architecture services on the project included site planning, planting design, and irrigation design. Our services included working closely with the architect to meet all FAA site design requirements for the helipad. G Brown Design coordinated efforts with Park City Planners to make sure requirements of the Urban Wildland Interface Code were met and worked with the design team and the Army Corps of Engineers to facilitate roadway crossings over the wetlands located on the project site. G Brown Design worked closely with the owner to provide estimated landscape water use calculations to assist with water negotiations with Park City Municipal Corporation and the local improvement district. The project included over 15 acres of landscape area, of which only 12% will be permanently irrigated. The Irrigation System for the project includes two three inch points of connection, a three inch looped mainline, and approximately 145 irrigation zones.

G Brown Design has provided design and Construction Period Services for several ponds at different private residences over the past few years. Ranging from 1/2 acre to 1-1/2 acre in size, the ponds were designed to provide recreational opportunities such as fishing, while also providing irrigation storage and added fire protection to the properties G Brown Design has also provided design and Construction Period Services for naturalistic creeks that provide improved pond circulation, enhance the fishery, and add to the overall aesthetic of the property. G Brown Design has also been involved in the design enhancements and improvements to Daybreak’s Oquirrh lake. This work has included the planting of over 100,000 wetland plants, tree and shrub plantings, and design and Construction Period Services of two creeks feeding into the lake.
